Abstract of a Lemon shark, captured using a slow shutter speed. I wanted to create a dynamic, arty image - something that expressed a fleeting moment, a subtle mood, a shadow world. Sharks are sleek by design with an iconic, well-recognisable shape that has changed little in its 450 million-year-old evolution.

At times, they move like ballet dancers through their three-dimensional space - but that is rarely noticed amongst the excitement typically generated around shark action. So I spent many dives experimenting with my camera to capture this wispy, mysterious, graceful impression. One that shows a different facet of their personality and that celebrates its distinct outline.
