Pushing aside fine threads of pondweed, which it uses for both camouflage and food, a froglet appears right in front of my waiting lens. It’s tiny but perfectly formed. Within a couple of weeks, it will leap out of this tangled habitat for the very first time and continue its amphibious journey through life.
