Underwater, the colours and patterns of invertebrate life are extraordinary. Some of these animals you only notice when you light up the reef with strobes or torchlight. Others are brilliantly bold with stunning hues, interesting textures and geometric shapes.
Finding fresh ways to bring to life their intricate detail is something I love doing. This is a sea star. Along its pockmarked surface you can see translucent, finger-like tubes peeking out, which it uses in a similar way to gills, extracting oxygen from the water. The flecks of white here and there, are tiny grains of sand.
